Henry James Veith III, age 87, a retired electronic technician; native of New Orleans and resident of Metairie for 40 years passed away peacefully in his sleep at Canon Hospice in Jefferson, Louisiana at 5:00 am on Monday, November 21, 2016. He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years; Ninfa Cervantes Veith; mother; Gladys Claire Marie Albena Veith and father Henry J. Veith Jr., and is survived by his two children; Marc E. Veith and Cynthia R. Veith. Henry enlisted in the United States Air Force and served at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico as a radar technician from 1950 – 1953. He worked as a television technician at General Electric, Westinghouse and RCA installing radar equipment for air to ground communication at airports in the Northeastern region of the United States. He also worked for Avondale Ship Yard and Boeing at the Michoud Assembly plant in New Orleans, finally retiring at Sears after 21 years as an electronic technician. Henry was an avid CB radio enthusiast and loved being with his cats. He was member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Metairie and American Legion Post #175. A funeral service will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana on Friday, November 25th at 11:00 am with a visitation with family beginning at 9:00 am.
