Hilda Jean Sims Bowman, age 76, entered into Glory with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, December 30, 2016. Beloved wife of J. Wayne Bowman for 59 years. Mother of Donna Renee Bowman Peavey (husband, Philip), Marc Wayne Bowman (wife, Ann), Cristy Lynn Bowman David (husband, Craig), Keith McVeigh Bowman (wife, Lisa), Joseph Brian Bowman (wife, Christina) and the late David Walton Bowman. Grandmother of Olivia Celeste Peavey, Jordan Lynn David, Tyler Jon Simmons, Matthew Frank Hood, Allison Grace Bowman, Abby Elise Bowman, Madison Ashley Bowman, Brody MacVeigh Bowman and Meriya Mackenzie Bowman. Sister of Nonnie Vann Sims, Betty Hartt and the late Marion Dampier, Anna Jewel Brown and Charlotte Schaff. Daughter of the late Nonnie Sims and Myrtle Anderson Sims. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bowman was a member of First Baptist Church of Pascagoula, MS, Riverside Baptist Church in River Ridge, LA and First Baptist Church of New Orleans. She served as a Sunday school teacher, an Acteens teacher, was a member of the Woman’s Missionary Union and loved gardening. She was a wonderful mother and was very active and involved in all of her children’s school and community activities including the P.T.A. Her world revolved around her husband, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Bowman was an encourager, a prayer warrior and loved immersing herself in Scripture. Her greatest desire was to see that all the people she loved would know Jesus personally and intimately. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives she touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial gathering at First Baptist Church of New Orleans, 5290 Canal Blvd in New Orleans, LA on Thursday morning, January 5, 2017 beginning at 9:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM. A time of visitation will be held at First Baptist Church Pascagoula on Saturday, January 7 from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM with a graveside service to follow at Macphelah Cemetery.
