Hilda Angela Vargas

Hilda Angela Vargas, age 88, went home to the loving arms of Our Father on October 14, 2017. She was born in Costa Rica, where she met the love of her life, the late Plinio Vargas. They later moved to California in the United States, finally settling in the New Orleans area. She is preceded in death by her parents; Luis Tencio and Micaela Cespedes, her son; Ronald A. Vargas, her granddaughter; Monica Arauz, and great-grandson; Julian Mesen. She is survived by her loving children; Miguel Angel Vargas (Susana), Luis G. Vargas (Miriam), Ana L. Smith (John) and Janet P. DeLatte (Donald), grandchildren; Vanessa Vargas, Giovanni Vargas, Marlene Vargas, Jaime Vargas, Fabian Vargas, Andre Vargas, Carlos Arauz, Edgar Arauz, Sergio Mesen, Monica Mesen, Daniel Mesen, and 20 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed life; loved her family deeply, and was happiest when cooking for family and getting together with friends. She also loved shopping, casinos and bingo. Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm. Hilda’s personal wish was that everyone wear RED to celebrate her life. She will be buried next to her beloved husband, Plinio in Costa Rica.
