Inez Richardson McGinnis of Metairie, Louisiana passed away peacefully on March 12, 2021. Inez was born in Talisheek, Louisiana on January 31, 1924. She married Harry I McGinnis on May 25, 1965. They enjoyed 28 wonderful years together.
Inez began her career during World War II as a “Government Gal” in the Pentagon, where she served as secretary to a General. A valued long-term employee of Ochsner Clinic Foundation, Inez retired in 2006 after serving as an Executive Assistant to the Director of Finance and Treasurer for over three decades.
Inez was a life-long member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. One of her greatest pleasures was travelling around the world with her husband and later, her sisters.
Inez’s devotion to her grandnephews, Westley, Casey, and Connor Keiser, greatly enriched their lives. She leaves them with cherished memories of their “Aunt Inez” that they will pass to future generations.
Inez is survived by a brother, Larry Joseph Richardson(Linda), her nephew and caregiver, Wayde Allen Keiser(Leah), and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Reid Richardson and Mary Lucille Smith Richardson, sisters, Shelton Valeria Kantner, Melba Mercedes Nix, and Reba Juanita Keiser, a brother, Steven Edsel Richardson, and a niece, Leslie Kantner Brashear.
As per her wishes, there will be a graveside service for Inez on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Evans Creek Cemetery in Evans creek, Louisiana. Wayde and Leah would like to thank Hospice Associates and, especially, her nurse, Katie Jessup, for the loving care Inez received throughout this last year. They would also like to thank Mr. Bobby C. Brannon for his love and support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Memorial Baptist Church to be used for the ongoing construction of the new gymnasium.
