Ivory June Scott was born November 8, 1947, in New Orleans, LA. He was the first boy of eight children born to Martha Denham and Ivory Scott. "Uncle June” as he was called, attended school and lived his early years in New Orleans, LA. He then migrated to NYC in his middle years after serving in the Vietnam War. He then returned to New Orleans in the early 1990’s.
“Uncle June” was a funny guy with a unique sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He would often tell jokes and laugh before the punch line. He also loved spending time with family. His passion for them was undeniable. He especially enjoyed family cookouts and good food, like gumbo and Popeye’s Chicken.
“Uncle June” was known for making regular random phone calls and leaving messages on your phone. He would say, “Hello! This is your Uncle June. I’m calling to see how yah doing. Make sure you tell your family I said hello. Okay? I gotta go now. We ‘bout to play Bingo.” We are all surely going to miss those “reach out and touch” phone calls.
His niece, Rose Marie Jenkins, lovingly cared for him for the last years of his life. The family gives her and everyone else who cared for “Uncle June” their greatest gratitude.
“Uncle June” passed away in the Ochsner LSU Health - Monroe Medical Center in the early morning of June 18, 2022, at the age of 74.
He leaves to cherish his memory his youngest brother, Roy Denham.
He is preceded in death by his parents Martha Denham and Ivory Scott; his sisters, Albertha Manley, Mary Lee Simms, Barbara Cross, Elaine Scott and Patricia Denham; and his brother, William Scott.
He will be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
