For 19 years, Ivy shared her life with her partner, Donna Hawthorne—a love she treasured deeply. She embraced Donna’s children, Colby Hawthorne and Brookie Hawthorne, as her own.
Ivy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Rosa Mary Cossé and Irvy E. Cossé, Sr.; her sister, Cynthia Cossé-Boyer; and her brothers, Irvy E. Cossé, Jr. and Corey Cossé, Sr. She is survived by her devoted brother, Michael Cossé and his wife, Carol; and her loving sister, Judith Cossé Baca and her husband, Michael.
She was the proud godmother of Aimee Cossé, Katy Cossé, Michelle Baca, and Melanie Baca, and the cherished honorary grandmother of Phoebe Cossé. Ivy also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who adored her, her Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office family, and countless friends she loved like her own kin.
Ivy was known for her larger-than-life personality, her sharp wit, and her gift for making people laugh. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel special—offering kindness without measure and love without condition. Her laughter was infectious, her presence unforgettable, and her heart endlessly generous.
She will be remembered not only for her dedication to her work and her unwavering love for family and friends, but also for the joy and light she brought into every room she entered. Ivy’s spirit will live on in the many lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Ivy’s life will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a brief Memorial Service to follow. In honor of Ivy and in keeping with her wishes, all who attend are encouraged to wear New Orleans Saints gear—t-shirts, hats, or anything that represents her beloved team.
