

Jacob Haney returned to heaven on November 16, 2013 after a brief illness. He was reunited with his loved ones that preceded him in death, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob and Bessie Haney, sisters, Dorothy Haney, Georganne Haney Naquin and his best friend Mary Lynn Haney. Jacob is survived by Kathleen Armand (Hewitt) and Peggy Farinelli (David) and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and his dear friends.
Jacob attended St. Anthony of Padua Elementary School followed by United Way Vocational Training. Jacob worked at Charity Hospital in New Orleans as an elevator operator from 1961 until his retirement in 1995. He will be fondly remembered by his coworkers as ”Lover”.
He was a lifelong resident of New Orleans and Parishioner of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Lakeview prior to Hurricane Katrina, following Katrina he became a resident of Westwego, La. Jacob had a spirit for life and liked everyone he met. He will be dearly missed by all.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, La. at 11:00 am where friends may call after 10:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery No.2 in New Orleans, La. In Lieu of Flowers the family is asking for donations to St. Michael’s Special School, 1522 Chippewa Street, New Orleans, La. 70130 in memory of Jacob Haney.
