

James B. Galiano, age 88, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Audrey Guidry Galiano. Loving father of Barbara Galiano Donner (E. Michael III) and Jane G. Galiano. Proud grandfather of Danna Andrew Doucet, Jr. and Elwin Michael Donner IV. Great grandfather of Madeline Elizabeth Doucet, August Elwin Donner and Wolf Emerson Donner. Son of the late Basil and Gladys Berniard Galiano. Brother of Norvin Basil Galiano and the late Basil Joseph Galiano and Richard Basil Galiano. Jimmy was a rifleman in the 3rd Infantry Division-United States Army. He was a World War II Veteran who was highly decorated. Jimmy was part of the European Campaign where he proudly served under General George Patton and Audie Murphy earning himself 2 Purple Hearts. Once home he continued to serve his country as the Secretary Treasurer for the VA Day Treatment Center and Department of Veterans' Affairs patient volunteer in the VA Hospital of New Orleans, LA. He also served as the Chateau D'Ville Rehabilitation and Retirement Center Resident Council President. Jimmy was a member of the Audie Murphy fan club, member of the Society of the 3rd Infantry Division-Audie Murphy Outpost # 35, VFW-Harahan Post and the American Legion Metairie Post 175. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 am.
