Jim was preceded in death by his father, James L. Glynn and mother, Orient Pauline Hecker Glynn. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Barbara Beard Glynn, his children, James L. Glynn III (Kerri) and Elizabeth Borecki, his sister, Julia Johnson (E.L.), his grandchildren, Katherine, Logan, Anna, and Molly, and several cousins, nieces, and a nephew.
Jim was born on October 28, 1941 in New Orleans, LA and resided in Metairie, LA. He graduated from Alcée Fortier High School with the class of 1959 and received his BS in Mathematics from Southeastern University of Louisiana in Hammond in 1963. After graduation, he served with the Air Force Reserve stationed in Belle Chase, LA. He worked as an Aerospace Engineer on the NASA Space Shuttle project for 31 years as an employee of the Chrysler Corporation (Space Division) at the Michoud Assembly Facility. During that time, he earned his MBA from the University of New Orleans.
Jim had accomplished the status of Life Master as an active member of the American Contract Bridge League. When he wasn’t playing cards, he was spending time with his grandchildren. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. His integrity and intelligence earned him the respect of everyone he encountered.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 1PM - 3PM at the Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or The National WWII Museum.
