James W. Somers, age 70, of Harahan, LA passed away Friday, January, 21, 2022. A longtime resident of Harahan and retiree from Avondale Shipyards, James was passionate about our country and loved reading and sharing his love of ship and aerospace technology. He will be missed and fondly remembered by his brothers, Donald Hoffman, Charles Somers and sister Kathy (Somers) Whited, and close friends, LeeAnn Clayton and Cheryl Cahill. Preceding him in death were his parents, James D. Somers, Maj. USAF (Ret.) and Gwendolyn J. Somers. James’ family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff of Heart of Hospice, East Jefferson Hospital location, for all of their support, companionship and care of our brother in their facility during his illness. In remembrance, please make donation to charities that honor and support our Veterans, such as, Wounded Warrior Project. Private family memorial will be held at a later date.
