Mr. Steckel was a devoted prankster! He would tell us stories of what happened when he was in school and we would reinact them the next day ... it was hard to know if he was playing us or we him. Our 50th reunion is coming up and we'll miss him. The simplest description for him is the word GREAT!

Not only was Mr. Steckel an excellent teacher he was a living example of the Jesuit ideal of "A Man for Others". He was a true gentleman in all the best meanings of that overused but rarely merited title. His patience was legendary and his skill at imparting knowledge while implanting the seeds of wisdom served us well and taught us how to be Blue Jays. I am grateful for having known him and having had the privelege of being one of his students.
Ave atque vale! Requiscat in pace.

Mr. Steckel taught me History in 1952 at Jesuit High. I also knew him as the choir master at St Agnes. The class of '56 had the pleasure of his company at a class lunch at Commander's a few years ago. He sang "Without a Song'" for us. He was amazing.

Thank you Mr Steckel for all the great things you taught us in and out of the classroom.

Mr. Steckel was one of my favorite teachers at Jesuit in the late 60's. He always had a smile on his face....even when we were misbehaving.

God has called home a man with a golden voice to add to His heavenly choir. We enjoyed his musical talent for years at St. Agnes Church. Mr. Steckel will be missed by all. Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Giovenco
