Jane was our neighbor in Waveland till we relocated in ‘92. I will remember her as a godmother ...unofficially. I remember her dressing up as the Easter Bunny and coming over when I was small. She made the best potato salad and always made a batch for me sans the eggs. The last time I heard from her was after I graduated undergrad in ‘09. She was lovely and caring. I think of her often. 

Shawn and I loved her more than words can say - we will remember her always for her words of wisdom and wonderful smile. We miss her very much.

Jane Adams was a wonderful and loving woman that devoted her adult life to her family and loved ones.

She always had a heart big enough to offer comforting solace to anyone in need.  A heart that reached out and touched so many lives.  When family and acquaintances reminisce, they offer praises with comments like:

“She had such a positive influence on my life”;

“She was always thoughtful and kind to me”;

“She enriched my life by just knowing her”;

Or……… “She always took me and all the neighborhood kids to wherever the fun was (no matter how many kids were only supposed to fit in that ‘51 Henry J)”.

All recollections that reflect her relentless and selfless commitment to assuring the happiness and security of those close to her heart . . all while expecting nothing in return.

In true matriarchal fashion, she would often, without solicitation, propose her opinions and advice:

Advice on how things should or should not be done;

Opinions on what you’re doing right or wrong;

Or advice on “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and getting on with it” coupled with how to make the most out of what you’re surely lucky to have.

Sometimes it might’ve been input we particularly didn’t care to hear at the time, but it always rang true with uncanny accuracy and was always delivered with the best of intentions.

As evident by viewing her memorial slide show, she was a woman who seemed to always display enviable poise and grace.  Traits commonly accompanied by a certain degree of pretense.  But pretension was one of few things her heart had little room or time for.

While enjoying a full and rewarding life, Jane also experienced hardships.  Hardships most consider unimaginable.  Hardships that exposed her vulnerability.  But, somehow, she managed to find a way to, in her words “Keep Moving”.  After all, there were still loved ones that needed what strength she had left.

It’s hard to let go of someone so loving and beautiful, but Jane’s life in itself is a tribute to inner strength and an example of how important it is for us to forge ahead when faced with what may seem to be insurmountable circumstances.

We will dearly miss her, forever cherish the life she so lovingly shared and strive to draw on her strength to always “Keep Moving”.

Your mom and I worked together on the old 4th floor at OCHSNER.  She was on the med- surg part and I had the Peds unit.  She was a great friend on those night shifts and always ready to lend a helping hand.  Jane was a really great lady.

Your Mother was such an incredible person, always giving of herself. I have known her my whole life. In fact, I believe she has been there for most of the big events in my life. She has certainly always been there for my grandmother, Shirley Ernst.  She will be greatly missed! I'm not sure what my grandmother will do without Mrs. Jane to talk to.  However, we know that she was in a lot of pain and are thankful to God for bringing her peace.  Our prayers are with you and your family.

Bobby, Cindy and family,

Deepest sympathies on the loss of your mother and grandmother. Over the last few years when I paid Aunt Jane visits, just want to share how much joy and love you all brought to her life. Bobby, she was always telling me what a wonderful son you were and how much you and Cindy did for her over the last few difficult years. She was so proud of every grandchild and always eager to share family photos. She will be greatly missed by all.

Greg and Rayan, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother.  I am sure she will be in Heaven with your Mom who I think about all the time, watching down on her family from above.  Peggy was a dear friend of mine and I worked with her for many years at the firm.  She would always bring Smoothies when I had a bad day.  I miss her and her kindness.  My prayers go out to you all, along with Ms. Adams and her family and friends. Dear Lisa, Bobby, Cindy, and those she left behind, GRANNY rocked!!!  She was always there for a party, her laughter sticks in my brain and will forever. What a magnificant lady she was.  She never missed a beat! The memories are so many and all so wonderful, except once or twice when we were young, she would put us in our place (much needed) always followed by a HUG. Granny was loved by so many and was so involved.  Her nursing career was one of her gifts among many!  I love her and am glad she is with her 3 children in heaven now!! The party will continue up there, so here's to you Granny, I will miss dancing with you in the rain, love, MB Vance P.S.
