

Dr. Janet Tosh passed away from cancer on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the age of 67. She was the beloved wife of Jack Leonard for 32 years and mother of Christine Leonard. She is survived by her brothers, Joe, Tommy, and Johnny, her sister, Mary Chopin, and many nieces and nephews. Janet is predeceased by her parents, James J. Tosh and Olga Tosh Vicknair.
Janet graduated from Dominican High School in 1971. She enrolled into the pre-veterinarian curriculum at Louisiana Tech University. Janet received her doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 1978 and founded Clearview Veterinary Hospital in Metairie, where she practiced for over 30 years. Janet truly loved being a veterinarian. She will be remembered for her compassion, caring, dedication, and kindness. Her love for animals was obvious to all who knew her.
Janet was a woman of faith and devout catholic believing in the power of prayer. She spent time in prayer with weekly visits in the perpetual adoration chapel at St. Rita’s Church for numerous years.
Past hobbies include sailing, biking, camping, kickboxing, travel, and spending time with family. She was an avid football fan of LSU and the Saints.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM with a Mass to begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
