Jean Vigo LaCour

Jean Vigo LaCour, M.D., passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 74, after a two-year journey with lymphoma and then pancreatic cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, Mimi, sister and friend as well as a dedicated physician. Jean was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Cecile Brennan Vigo and John L. "Jack" Vigo on January 6, 1952. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles E. LaCour, D.D.S., her children, Mark Joseph LaCour (Ginger) and Julie LaCour Isch (Roberto), and her grandchildren, Charlotte Spencer LaCour, Caroline Best LaCour, Olivia Nicole Isch, Mark Joseph LaCour, Jr. and Hailey Elizabeth Isch who knew her affectionately as “Mimi.” Jean is also survived by her siblings, John Vigo (Dona) and Helen Vigo Branley (Ed), and by many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Jean graduated from St. Francis Cabrini grammar school, Dominican High School, the University of New Orleans and LSU Medical School New Orleans (1978). She was an anesthesiologist at Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital and with LSU at Charity Hospital. Jean loved traveling, especially her trips to Paris, France. She and Charlie enjoyed dining at the many restaurants throughout New Orleans. Jean loved tending her gardens and sharing her deep knowledge of the plants she grew. Her favorite hobby was working with dollhouse miniatures which led to the transformation of one room in the house into “Doll-ville,” a world unto itself containing multiple dollhouses and uniquely themed display rooms. Jean enjoyed playing in this room with her grandchildren and marveling at the beauty of her grandchildren’s imaginations and all the laughter and fun moments that transpired in the world of Doll-ville.

Services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3368 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, LA. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. Inurnment will be private at Metairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd School and the Harry Tompson Center.
