Born in Taft on March 24, 1941, Jerry was raised in the close-knit communities of Vacherie and Hahnville. He graduated from Hahnville High School, and it was during his early working years at Louisiana Power and Light in Algiers that he met the love of his life, Renelle Hebert. Their 62-year marriage was one of faith, devotion, and joy. Together, they built a home in Luling and raised three children, instilling in them the same deep values that guided their own lives.
Jerry dedicated over 30 years of service to Monsanto, where he was admired not only for his technical skill as an operator and electrician, but also for his quiet work ethic and integrity. Beyond his career, Jerry gave generously to his community. He served faithfully as a coach and officer with the Mimosa Booster Club and was a long-time member of the Rod and Gun Club. He was a familiar presence at Hahnville High School football games and band performances, where he remained a devoted volunteer long after his children graduated.
A man of enduring faith, Jerry was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Anthony of Padua and Holy Family Catholic Churches. He lived out his faith through kindness, humility, and service to others. He found joy in life’s simple blessings—a quiet day fishing, family road trips, and every precious moment spent with his grandchildren. His gentle humor, quiet strength, and deep, unconditional love left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Jerry also served his country with honor in the Louisiana Air National Guard and the U.S. Air Force Reserves, proudly achieving the rank of Sergeant before receiving an Honorable Discharge after six years of service.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Renelle Hebert Folse; his brother Carl Folse (Carol); his children Brian Folse (Stephanie), Barry Folse, and Bonnie Lowe (Sterling Whitley); his grandchildren Cameron Folse (Adriana), Zachary Folse, Evan Folse, Garrett Folse, Jacob Lowe, Benjamin Whitley, and Griffin Whitley; and his great-grandson, Colland Folse. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law Amy Folse and Joan Folse, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was welcomed into eternal life by his parents, O’Neil Folse Sr. and Sophie Kliebert Clardy (Eugene), and his brothers, O’Neil Folse Jr. (Diane), Neil Folse, and Lloyd Folse.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Delores Jones, Jerry’s devoted caregiver for many years, and to the compassionate staff at Ochsner Medical Center and The Passages at The Sanctuary, who provided gentle and dignified care in his final days.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a visitation on Friday, July 25, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 155 Holy Family Lane, Luling, LA 70070. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery, 1279 Paul Maillard Road, Luling, LA 70070.
