John Steve Kives

John Steve Kives went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the age of 91, following a long battle with congestive heart failure. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Evelyn Holmes Kives and his parents, Juliana Juhasz Kives and Alexander Kives.

He is survived by his loving children, Steve John Kives and wife Melissa, Carol Kives Manfredo and husband Robert, Rosalind Kives Maddox and husband Todd, and Byron Patrick Kives and wife Shannon; his grandchildren: Ryan David Boehm and wife Julie, James Bradley Fuselier and wife Misty, Thomas Michael Ginther III, Tamra Julianna Manfredo, Matthew Aaron Kives, Tyler Andrew Kives, and Kelly Elizabeth Kives in addition to his great-grandchildren, Camille Elizabeth Fuselier, Wren Nelson, Colette Elise Boehm, and Chloe Evelyn Boehm.

John was born in Albany, LA and as a young man, moved to New Orleans to pursue career opportunities first at Stratton and Baldwin, then with Texaco, Inc. where he would spend the final 40 years of his career. He was a longtime resident of Harahan, LA and was a beloved volunteer at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for 30 years where he served as head usher and was always there to lend a hand no matter the need.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Friday, November 17, 2023 beginning at 4:00 PM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 6:00 PM, in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home's Chapel. Graveside service and interment will be at St. Margaret Catholic Church Cemetery, 30300 Catholic Hall Rd. in Albany, LA at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 18, 2023.
