John M. Schrewe Jr.

John Marie Schrewe, Jr., born 1932 in New Orleans to John Marie and Benilde Bermudez Schrewe. John grew up in Uptown New Orleans and had vivid memories of his father’s work in the Notions Department at D.H. Holmes, and of helping his mother with her work as a seamstress sewing Mardi Gras ball gowns. John attended St. Stephen’s Elementary School and Jesuit High school, where he played basketball. John served in the U. S. Navy for eight years and was a veteran of the Korean War. John worked in the furniture business for over 57 years and many customers and co-workers count him as their friend. John was most proud of his children, Suzanne Marie Schrewe, Catherine Marie Schrewe, and John Marie Schrewe, III, and his granddaughter Hailey. He is also survived by his sister Jeanne Marie Bogrand. We all love and miss him. A viewing and Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. The visitation will begin at 10:30 am with the Funeral Mass at 12:30 pm. All are invited to attend services.
