John William Tunstall Jr., beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018. John, known as “JT” to his friends, Johnny to his family, and “Big Daddy” to his grandchildren was born in New Orleans, LA to the late John William and Martha Crews Tunstall. He worked all over the world but resided in southeast Louisiana the majority of his life. He leaves behind his children, Amber Lynne (Tom) and Jackie Rae; their brother Neal (Ceara) and sister Robyn (Adam). John is preceded in death by his brother Mike (Ida) and leaves to mourn, his brothers Joseph (Rosemary) and Robert (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Gwyndelyn, Aurora, Cale, Meredith, Felix, and Lydia; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Johnny was an extremely determined and ambitious man with a personality that could light up any room and touched an incalculable number of hearts in his life. He loved his sales job with Stuart Services because he got to do two of the things that mattered most to him: earn a living and connecting with people.
With an enormous heart and unrelenting confidence, empathy, and strength he pushed through consummate physical obstacles his entire life – most often exceling, setting new standards, and inspiring those around him. He was an exceptional story teller with an old soul, a young heart, and an unparalleled sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Leitz–Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006 on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital www.stjude.org/donate.
