A kind and loving man, Jon William Plaisance, 61, passed into his new life on November 10, 2020. His passing was very unexpected, and he will be sorely missed by those who loved him. Jon had a gentle soul and a sweet disposition. While he sometimes enjoyed being a quiet observer of the people and places around him, he also brought energy and fun to the lives of those who knew him. Jon was a good son, a devoted brother, a fun uncle, and a friend to so many. Above all else, Jon knew how to cherish and value all people especially those in need.
Jon was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to parents Rachael Lafranz and Claytus Joseph Plaisance, Jr. who preceded him in death. His siblings recall with gratitude Jon’s support and companionship that he provided to our mother for so many years. His siblings and their spouses, Clay Plaisance (Lynn). Cara Freitag (Bill), Marc Plaisance (Angie), Gavin, Rachael Farnet (Andre’), and Andre’ Plaisance (Rebecca) are heartbroken to lose him so soon. His passing also leaves a hole in the hearts of thirteen nieces and nephews. Jon is also survived by his aunt Ruth Lafranz Kathmann, and uncles, Nicholas William Lafranz and Ronald Joseph Plaisance, as well as thirteen cousins. Jon was a good friend to many in the Lakeview and Bucktown neighborhoods in which he lived. His family especially appreciates the long friendship he had with Shelley Rheams. Old and new friends were a constant and comforting presence in his life.
Jon was rightly proud of his career working in the kitchens of New Orleans restaurants for over forty years and he was a diligent and devoted worker. His family also appreciates his most recent employer, New Orleans Food & Spirits in Bucktown, as he really enjoyed working there. Jon leveraged his culinary talents to create wonderful holiday meals for his family for most of his life. Jon was also passionate about a variety of artistic pursuits. He was a graduate of Brother Martin High School and attended the University of New Orleans. He was a talented musician and an Eagle Scout.

The family will be happy to provide those details to whoever would like to participate. His inurnment will be at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery.
