Jorge Raul Huerta, age 93, was born in Mexico City and passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026. Jorge lived his entire adult life in the United States, where he built a life centered on hard work, family, and friendship. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gail O’Regan Huerta, in January 1987; his beloved son Neil Steven Huerta in 1986, and his second wife, Marlis Postel Huerta, in 2011.
He is survived by his children: Tanya Vargas (Eugenio), Jorge B. Huerta, and Eric Huerta (Michelle). He was a proud grandfather to Eugenio (Sam), Aaron (Kailey), Alex, and Gaby, and a loving great-grandfather to Abigail, Macario Aurelio, and Eric. Jorge is also survived by his stepdaughter, Manuela Millington; his stepson, Oliver Rhose; and his step-granddaughters, Alexis, Sammy, and Nikki.
Jorge was a good man who worked hard and deeply loved his family. He was charming and gregarious, with a zest for life that showed in his love of cars, 1960s Mexican soccer, and dancing. He will be remembered for his warmth, his stories, and the joy he brought to those around him.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Wednesday April 15, 2026, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM followed by a service at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
