

Joseph E. Dicharry, age 84, passed away on March 29, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Joseph E. Dicharry, Sr., and Ruth Wakefield Fiduccia and a daughter, Judy Dicharry Wattigney who has predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Bonnie Naquin Dicharry, daughter Jodie Dicharry Jones (Clay – deceased), grandsons Austin Enoch and Sidney Michael Wattigney, and his sister Mary Fiduccia McDuff along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and God Children, Kirk Windstein and David Roddy, and his fur baby “Lily”.
He was born in Greenville, Mississippi and was a resident of Harahan for 47 years. He served in the Army National Guard and worked at Walker-Roemer and Barbe’s Dairy for 35 years. He spent his later years at Magnolia Community Services where he was involved in the recreation department, he was a Louisiana Special Olympics Coach helping with the bowling program. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Panola Hunting Club in Mississippi. He was a die-hard Saints fan. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
A Mass of Christian Burial service will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana. New Orleans Saints attire or casual dress is allowed. Visitation with the family will be between 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 1:00 pm. Employees of Walker-Roemer, Barbe’s Dairy and Dillard’s Department Store are invited to attend. New Orleans Saints attire or casual dress is welcomed. Interment will immediately follow at St. Patrick Cemetery No. 1, 5000 Canal St., New Orleans, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Magnolia Community Services, 100 Central Ave., Jefferson, Louisiana 70121.
