Joseph Arthur Hayes Sr.

Joseph Arthur Hayes passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011, age 63. Beloved husband of Bobbie Christine Hayes, father of Joseph A. Hayes, Jason A. Hayes (Nicole), John A. Hayes II (Amanda). Son of the late John Allen Hayes and Audrey Allen Hayes. Grandfather of Blaine Hayes, Haley Baxter, Cody Hayes, Cara Hayes, and Caelan Hayes. Brother of John A. Hayes Jr., Janet H. LeBoeuf, Jerold A. Hayes, Judith A. Hayes, and Jo Ann Hayes. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Joseph enjoyed many years as a proud navy veteran and merchant marine who served during the Vietnam War. He was also an avid community activist heading neighborhood watch, charity fundraisers, and garnering support for political candidates. Together with his wife, Joseph added 14 foster children to his family of five over an eight year span. His life served as a testament to protecting and supporting the family values which he cherished most.

Relatives and friends of the family are welcome to attend a Funeral Service at the Chapel of Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr.; on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 am.
