Joseph "Joe" Keppel Jr.

Joseph “Joe” Keppel, Jr., devoted husband of Vasilia (Vassie) Morley Keppel passed away on Monday, July 11, 2011 at the age of 61. Born to Joseph F. Keppel, Sr. and Rita “Goldie” Lambly Keppel. He is survived by his children: Joseph “Joey” Keppel, Lisa Keppel Frey (Aaron) and Julie Keppel; stepchildren: William A. Monteleone and Athena T. Monteleone; siblings: Fredrick “Rick” Keppel, M.D. (Tammy) and Barbara Fisher (David) and grandsons: Mason Frey, Jack Frey and William J. Monteleone. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Joe graduated from De La Salle in 1967 and LSU in 1971with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed by Jacobs Engineering and had worked for McDermott and Petrotech previously. He and Vassie loved to travel and his outstanding photography was loved and shared by family and friends. He will be missed and forever in our hearts.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the LSU Trauma Unit for the excellent professional care they extended to them.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:00 am at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. Memorial visitation will begin at 10:00 am.
