Joseph Lawlis "Monty" Montero Jr.

Joseph Lawlis “Monty” Montero, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Carolyn J. Montero and the late Shirley Montero by first marriage for 43 years. Father of Kathy Montero Burns (Duane) and Linda Montero Wattigney (Billy). Stepfather of Charlotte Cortez, William C. Waldrop and Kenny Waldrop (Jessica). Grandfather of Gary Pratt, Jr., William Wattigney , Jr., Lance Wattigney, Amy Wattigney Schexnayder, Walter Wattigney, Claire Schaubhut, Seth Waldrop, Maylon Waldrop, Lindsay Matherne and Ashley Waldrop. Great grandfather of Camilla and Stefan Pratt, Seth Wattigney, Peter Jr. and Brandon Schexnayder , Madelyn Wattigney and Triston Schaubhut. Son of the late Alma Ballay Montero and Joseph Montero, Sr. Brother of Jackie Lehr and the late Mildred Rojas. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Monty was born and raised in New Orleans and lived in Barataria for the past 16 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a plane mechanic and retired as a mechanic.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
