Josephine "Jo" Soleto Pellegrin

Josephine "Jo" Soleto Pellegrin went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017, one day shy of her 86th birthday. She was a native of Independence, LA and a resident of River Ridge, LA. She was married to the late Lloyd Francis Pellegrin for 63 years before his death in 2012. She will be greatly missed by her children Debra Pellegrin Lefere (the late William Lefere), Janie Pellegrin Picou, and Timothy Pellegrin (Karen Corona Pellegrin) grandchildren Julie Lefere, Christine "Chrissy" Eickhorst (Joe), Lacey Panagos (Alex), Nicole Singleton (Josh), Julia Picou, Claudia Picou, Christopher Pellegrin, Ashley Cabal (Blane) and great grandchildren Chase and Kinley Eickhorst, Brayden, Brody, and Brantley Cabal, and Natalie and Nolan Panagos. Jo was preceded in death by her parents Josephine Gerage Soleto and Salvador Soleto and her brother Joseph Soleto. She is survived and mourned by her sister Jeannie Soleto Chauvin, brothers Nicky and Sal Soleto, and sister-in-law Ruby Richoux Soleto (Joseph) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Jo was a devout Catholic with a deep love for Mother Mary and the Divine Mercy chaplet. She also loved to pray the rosary and crafted rope rosaries to donate to charity. She was a volunteer for Closer Walk Ministry for many years and was passionate about Pro-Life issues. Jo's children would like to thank her niece Julie Chauvin, who always had a special place in her heart, for all the love and care she gave her in her final months. Family and friends are invited to the Visitation at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 10021 Jefferson Hwy., in River Ridge, LA on Tuesday, October 10th from 10:00-10:45, followed by recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:45, and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Closer Walk Ministries or the Salesian Missions, charities which were very dear to her heart.
