Joyce Cutrera Segari passed away peacefully at home on February 27, 2024 at the age of 93. She was born on January 3, 1931, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Metairie for 68 years. She was married to the late Arthur Segari, Jr. from 1947 until his death in 2007.
She is survived by her son, Donald Arthur Segari (Anna Chenevert) and her daughter, Donna Segari Patterson (Dale), her grandchildren, Shaun Poston (Angelica Rohn), Laurie Segari Tassin(Bobby), Jessica Segari Moser (Shane), Michael Moore (Lauren), and Jerry Gaubert (Lisa), great-grandchildren, Lyric Poston, Rhyme Poston, Taylor Tassin, Tyler Tassin, Emerson Moser, Mallory Tassin, Dean Moore, Jacob Moore, Adriana Tassin, Thomas and Lauren Gaubert and Grace and Addison Gregg, great-great granddaughter, Phoenix Abbatt. She is also survived by her brother, John Cutrera, sister, Jane Cutrera Lacombe, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Anthony Cutrera, Sr., mother, Anna Jacob Cutrera, and brother, Anthony Cutrera Jr.
Joyce loved her family with her whole heart and soul, and she would do anything she possibly could for them. She loved reading, movies, and going out to eat, but travel was her passion. Yellowstone National Park was the family's special place and camping at Fishing Bridge holds many special memories. She visited every one of the 50 states, all the Canadian provinces, Mexico, The Caribbean, England, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Holland. She thanked God for letting her see places she never thought she would get to visit and enjoy travel with friends and family.
Joyce volunteered at East Jefferson General Hospital in the recovery room for 23 years. She belonged and served on the board of the Mike Miley Senior Club and served on the board of the East Jefferson Italian American Club. She loved to talk to anyone, anywhere and enjoyed laughing even if it was at her expense. She was quick to smile and generous with a helping hand. As much as she loved to talk, she was always willing to listen to her friends and family when they needed someone to talk to. She was interested in everything, history, current events, nature, and stories people would tell. She was strong, independent, and wanted more than anything to stay in her house that was so uniquely hers. God granted her wish.
She always said, “God has been so good to me.” and God was so good to us for leaving her with us for so long. She will leave a hole in our hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Our Lady of Divine Providence Catholic Church, 8617 W. Metairie Ave. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 11 AM - 1 PM with a memorial Mass to begin at 1 PM.
In Lieu of flowers, please remember causes that were special to Joyce, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Moab, Utah and St Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain, South Dakota.
