Joycelyn Jo Labiche Schowalter

Joycelyn Gervaise Labiche Schowalter entered eternal life at age 83 on Jan 8, 2012, the Epiphany of our Lord, due to natural causes. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Schowalter, Sr, her parents Annette and Alfred Labiche, her brother Merle Labiche, and sisters Yvonne Maurin, Genevieve Clarke, and Marilee Bass. She is survived by four children; Ann (David Hicks), John, Karen (Mark Cooper) and Paul (Sandra); eight grandchildren Aaron, Matthew, Rachel, Sarah, Jennifer, Katherine, Jonathan, and Aidan; and three great grandchildren Adelaide, Mary, and John. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and their children. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology from Loyola University, and a Master of Arts Degree in Education (Curriculum Design) from UNO. After working in several New Orleans medical facilities such as Mercy, Hotel Dieu, Ochsner, and New Orleans Blood Bank, she worked and retired from Charity hospital. She was a kind, loving mother and a woman of great faith, devoting her final years to an increased life of prayer. Services will be held Friday, Jan 13th at the Garden of Memories, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation is at 11am, Funeral Mass at 1pm with burial immediately following.
