June G. Zara

June Griffin Zara, 87, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2013 at Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington. June was born in New Orleans, lived for a short time in Biloxi. The family moved back to New Orleans and opened a grocery store. June graduated from Nichols High School. June worked many years at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans in accounting. She retired, moved and lived in Metairie until 2006, then resided in Covington. June was married twice, once to Richard Nieto, deceased, and to Salvatore Zara, deceased. June loved dancing, movies, music, and reading. She was truly a southern lady, very kind and compassionate. She was preceded in death by her father Olen Clifford Griffin, Margaret Ada Griffin, brothers Jack Ferrel Griffin, Joseph Patrick Griffin, Sr., her grand parents John George Marz, Ada Margret Marz, John Daniel Griffin, Lucy Jackie Griffin.

Her sisters Gaynell Dupree and Eileen Fleischmann, devoted son Kenneth Nieto, his wife Patricia, her daughter Claudia Nieto, her grand children Elizabeth Ardoin, Emily Lubrano, Christopher Rousset, and four great grand children, many nieces and nephews survive her.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm.
