

Karl “Lewis” Haithcock passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, November 25, 2017. He was 68 years old. Loving husband of Diana “D.D.” Pregeant. Father of Ginny Green (Scottie) of Mobile, Alabama and the late Karl Lewis Haithcock Jr. Stepfather of Nicholas Pregeant (Kelly) and Raymond Pregeant (Andrea). Grandfather of Gillie Green, Aidan Pregeant, Michael Pregeant, Ethan Pregeant, and Alexander Pregeant. Brother of Melvin “Bo” Haithcock of Gainesville, Georgia, Gail Cox (Richard) of Clearwater, Florida. Son of the late Melvin and Lois Haithcock. He was born in Gulfport, Mississippi and grew up in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from Murphy High School and the University of South Alabama. He has been a resident of Metairie for the past 8 years. As a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, he bravely served in the Vietnam War, having been awarded the Purple Heart twice, the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “V”, National Defense Service Medal, and numerous other medals and commendations. Lewis was very devoted to his wife, D.D., and cherished his family, including his dogs, Sophie, Milo, and Jazzy. Lewis fought courageously through his cancer, just as he had done during his military service. He will be greatly missed by many and forever honored for his service to his country. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at LEITZ-EAGAN Metairie, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, on Friday morning, December 1, 2017 at 11:30.
