

Kathleen “Kay” Leonard Bruner, age 71 passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 with her loving family by her side. She was born in New Orleans on July 13, 1944. Kay attended Destrehan High School. She was married to Joseph Bruner Jr. for nearly 45 years. She was a loving homemaker, business owner of the LA Sweethearts Dance Team. She is preceded in death by her parents Ceceile E. LeBrun Leonard and Adrian J. Leonard, Sr. and her daughters Francis Bruner and Leslie Kay May Yates. She is survived by her children John Patrick McCarron, Christine Ann May, and Sean William May, her 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grand-children. She was one of five children. Kay was a member of LA Sweethearts Dance Team; board member of the Kenner Blue Bells was a director of the Dixieland Pageants and was associated with the Mitchell Brothers Amusement and Gold Star Amusement. Kay “Mawmaw” was known to have the biggest heart; she opened her home, fostered, adopted and helped several children. There was nothing she wouldn’t do to help those who needed it. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana 70006.
