Kay Ann Bertrand

Kay Ann Bertrand, age 80, passed away on June 9, 2015 in Gretna, Louisiana. She was a devout Catholic born and raised in New Orleans. The great-granddaughter of noted artist/sculptor Achille Perelli , Kay was the daughter of the late Edwin A. Perelli & late Alice M. Perelli and sister to the late G. Alton Perelli(Mary-Lou). Her devoted husband Leonard J. Bertrand preceded her in death. Kay was a beloved mother to Leonard J. Bertrand Jr.(Darlene) & Edwin A. Bertrand(Rebecca) & beloved grandmother of Michelle Richard(Scott), Allen Bertrand & Lee Bertrand, also great-grandmother of Colin Richard.

Kay was a graduate of Annunciation High School and attended UNO and Delgado Community College. Kay was active with New Orleans Cub Scouts Pack 35 and proud of their cubs, bears and webelos and of Boy Scouts of America Troup 35 and their families.

Kay enjoyed being social with family, extended family and friends. Her many passions included long drives, Louisiana seafood, a glass of wine, and playing various card games. She was fond of asking “what’s new?” and requesting friends to “tell me something good.”

Before retiring Kay was previously employed at St. Ann Church preparing daily meals for the parish priests and their guests. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Services and mass will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd, Metairie, LA, on Tuesday, June 23 at 11am. Guests are welcome to visit at 10am. Flowers are not necessary. Interment will be held at a later time at Greenwood Cemetery.
