

Kenneth Herndon passed away peacefully in his home on February 26 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Corcoran; his brother, Truman Herndon; and his grandchildren, Angel Lincoln Mardis, Crystal Green, Amy Cheney, Shawn Herndon, Kyle Herndon, LeighAnn Engle, Chet Hebert, Daynon Corcoran, Kate Corcoran, Tanner Corcoran and Brenna Corcoran. He is pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Meredith Herndon and his sons, Kenny Herndon and Johnny Herndon (Paula Leblanc). He leaves behind seventeen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He proudly served his country for 22 years in the Navy and Coast Guard before retiring as a Master Chief. He was an avid fisherman who spent countless days in the Cajun Bahamas, also known as Grand Isle. He was known for cruising the neighborhood on his electric scooter wearing a giant straw hat and sunglasses. He took great pride in his famous chicken and dumplings. His generous, caring, witty spirit will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
His life will be celebrated on March 8, 2024 at Lakeshore Church (15261 Brewster Road, Covington, LA) at 12:00 with visitation from 10:00-12:00. Interment will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Hammond, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of your choice.
