Kenneth Julian, 85, of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, June 12, at Ochsner Baptist Hospital. He was born on April 28, 1941, in New Orleans, LA, to Archille Sr. and Philomene Humphrey Julian.
Kenneth graduated from Cohen High School in 1960, where he met Wilhelmina Gales, who would later become his wife. Together they built a loving family and raised three sons: Kenneth Jr., Patrick, and Kyle.
After working for Schlitz Brewery, Kenneth completed his degree in Psychology at Southern University. He then began working for NOPSI as a public transportation bus driver. Following a work-related injury, he changed professions and joined the staff at Mandina's Restaurant, where he remained for 40 years until his retirement. In retirement, Kenneth continued serving others through his work at St. Katharine Drexel Church.
A lifelong resident of his neighborhood, Kenneth attended Holy Ghost School and spent his entire life in the community he loved. He was a devoted member of the Senior Knights of Peter Claver, an avid tennis player, and a die-hard Saints fan. He cherished the camaraderie of his neighbors and friends and, throughout his life, had a profound impact on many people in the community.
Kenneth was a proud and devoted family man who deeply cared for both his immediate and extended family. As his health began to decline, he became a resident of Chateau de Notre Dame, where he spent his remaining years. Even as his health challenges increased, he maintained a strong faith, quiet strength, endearing wit, and encouraging wisdom that inspired all who knew him.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Wilhelmina; and his brothers and sister.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Jr., Patrick, and Kyle; his daughters-in-law, Kim and Yashica; and his cherished grandchildren, Kenneth III, Andrew, Ryan, Stephen, Kyle Jr., and Aliyah. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, lifelong neighbors, and dear friends who will treasure his memory.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Chateau de Notre Dame for the compassionate care and comfort they provided during Kenneth's final years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kenneth's honor to St. Katharine Drexel Church, 2015 Louisiana Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70115.
Visitation will be held at St Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 2015 Louisiana Ave, New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow mass at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, New Orleans, LA.
