Kevin Joseph Lupo, age 62, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025. A devoted Catholic and lifelong parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Church, Kevin was the beloved husband and best friend of his wife of 38 years, Ann Lupo. Though he left us far too soon, his life was rich with joy, laughter, and love.
Kevin retired from Winn-Dixie after a dedicated 30-year career as a scanning manager, working in stores throughout the Greater New Orleans area. Along the way, he built lasting friendships with both coworkers and customers who appreciated his easygoing nature and quick wit.
In retirement, Kevin embraced life fully. He loved fishing, camping, ceramics, and working in his yard. He was also a fierce (but friendly) cornhole competitor and bowled in a seniors league at Colonial Lanes. Just this year, he proudly earned gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Greater New Orleans Senior Games.
Kevin was a big kid at heart, always up for a cruise or a trip to the casino—and always surrounded by his collection of RC cars, slot cars, small toys, and “big-boy toys.” Known for his playful sense of humor and slightly embellished storytelling, Kevin’s greatest gift was his kindness. Thoughtful and generous without expecting recognition, he brightened countless lives with quiet good deeds and simple, genuine care. He never fully realized just how many hearts he touched.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo and Patricia Lupo; his grandparents Peter and Helen Spano and Joseph and Marie Lupo; his father- and mother-in-law Robert Sr. and Mary Lee George; and his brother-in-law Robert George Jr.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister Christina Lupo-Farrell (Johnny) and their children Mason, Gregory, Matthew, and Colin; his sister-in-law Janet Pitzen (Chris) and their children Calli and Brady; his sister-in-law Sharon George and her children Jason, Jessica, and Lindsay; as well as many great-nieces and nephews, godchildren, cousins, and others who looked at him like an uncle.
A proud alumnus of Brother Martin High School (Class of 1981), Kevin was a cheerleader his senior year and never lost his spirited approach to life. He was also a member of the SMA Knights of Columbus Council #13425.
The Lupo family extends their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate care team at Ochsner Kenner. Special gratitude to Dr. Jayesh Madrecha who demonstrated such sincere concern for Kevin and his loved ones.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, June 21, at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, 10021 Jefferson Hwy, River Ridge, LA 70123. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at noon. A private interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses in Kevin’s memory.
