Larry Lee Nagy, Sr. went home to our heavenly father on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Beloved husband of 50 years to Mercedes Roman Nagy; adored Father of Bernice N. Yuratich, Larry L. Nagy Jr. and proud father-in-law of Dr. Paul D. Yuratich. Grandfather to (4) angels: Laurence A. Yuratich, Joseph W. Yuratich, Alexandra O. Nagy and Zachary L. Nagy. He is predeceased by his parents, Bernice Dies Nagy and Gaza Joseph Nagy.
Larry was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 4, 1937 and raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico during the Atomic Age where his parents worked on the Manhattan Project to help end WWII. Larry lived an amazing life on "the hill" and spent each summer of his life taking his family to his childhood home teaching us the unique history of that historic era. In the early 60's, military service led him to New Orleans. Here he began his new home and met the love of his life. Together they have shared 50 wonderful years of devotion and love. A graduate of Tulane University, he built his career with Humble Oil, Blue Cross Blue Shield and World Color, ultimately retiring as a Vice President of Human Resources. He spent his retirement devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. Always thinking of his family, Larry built a beautiful haven known as Eagle Nest Farm in Covington, LA where we will forever cherish his legacy and continue to develop for future generations in his honor. His presence on earth will be missed by friends and family, but his spirit will be in our hearts forever. Until we meet again, we love you.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 2605 River Rd., New Orleans, LA 70121.
