

After a courageous battle with cancer, Lavell “Val” Zeagler passed away with his family and friends at his side on Sunday, January 9, 2011. He was 73 years old. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joy Aviragnet Zeagler; his son, Kurt Zeagler, (wife, Maria) and grandchildren, Roman and Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Maude Zeagler and his sister, Polly Salkowski. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Bryan; his brother, Stanley Zeagler and numerous cousins.
He was the beloved uncle of Gail LaMarca, Howard Lasseigne, Malora Ward, Larry Zummo, Tania Willoz, Tamela Charbonnet, and Heather LaMarca. He was granduncle to Grace, Eve, and Jordan Charbonnet; Margaret and Lacy Willoz and Dylan and Kylie Zummo.
Val was a selfless person who gave of his time and talents to everyone he knew. He was a strong man who could build anything - from a solid house to a strong family. He was an inspiration throughout his life and his struggle with lymphoma. He is dearly loved and will always remain in our hearts. His generous spirit and everlasting patience will be missed.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
