I just learned of Lawrie's passing. We knew each other since teenagers in the French Quarter. It makes me sad since he was a GOOD friend. I hope the best for his family.

I just learned you passed away Paren, my heart is breaking!  You spoiled me rotten as a child & I will never forget that or Ralph!

Dad, I am not quite sure where to begin. It has been only 1 week and I still can't believe you are not here with us. Your passing was way too sudden, and I can't help but feeling sad at this time. I think about my younger days at our house together where I grew up and can remember all the fun things we used to do. Playing football across the street, going to Jefferson playground and playing basketball, baseball or just watching you jog around the track. I remember you always working out and trying to keep fit. It was a challenge with 3 boys, I know what its like with 2 children of my own. You definitely taught me well throughout my growing years. Sometimes you were strict, but for a very good reason and I now understand that. You taught me how to drive, I remember that was a very exciting time for me. You came to many of my sports events, as many as you could. I know you worked many night shifts at the railroad. I remember you building the tree house in our back yard, the garage full of weights to work out with. All the kids in the neighborhood thought that was so cool. As I grew up, we definitely built a more man to man relationship. Lots and lots of laughter, some tough times, but we all go through those. I miss talking to you about the New Orleans Saints, or Tulane, anything sports related. I cherish all the crawfish boils, the dinners and casual visits that you enjoyed at our home. I know your grandchildren are going to miss you, that is to be expected. Chere & I appreciate all the love and tenderness you gave to them, they enjoyed your jokes and laughter, your spirit and your big heart. There is always that sad part where I wish we could have had more time, I just wish there was that extra day we could have sat and talked and just chit chatted. I do thank God for the recent Christmas we shared as a family, there was an obvious reason we had such a great time together. I thank you for all the times you stopped by my office to come in and talk with me, it was very uplifting to get me out of my work mode, even if it was just for an hour or so. As I get older, time moves so quickly, I'm so glad we always said good bye and that we loved each other. Please look down on us and prey for mom to be strong, I know she is hurting in her heart. I am so sorry you left us so early, and I will always thank God for the time he gave us together. I know I was your stepson, but you always loved and treated me like I was your own.
