Leonard "Silky" O. Garrett

Leonard "Silky" O. Garrett, age 82, of Metairie, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021. Silky was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Dewey Garrett and Emma Jacobs Etter. He is also preceded in death by his wife Beulah Hammock Garrett, his son; Sean P. Garrett, a brother; Raymond Garrett, sisters; Gerry Baird (Bob) and Karen McGlothlin; and a step-son Danny Slavich. He is survived by his granddaughter; Gianna Garrett, siblings; Sharon Olmsted (Jake - deceased), Albert Garrett (Marlene) and Patricia D. Thomas (Ralph), and step-children; Frank Slavich, Jr. (Mary Jane), Randy Slavich (Susan) along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leonard served in the US Marine Corps, and worked at K-Mart for a number of years. His passion in life was his family and football. He will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

A Funeral Service Leonard and his wife Beulah is planned for Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Church, 5701 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana. With Visitation from 9:30 am - 11:00 am with the Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his honor to the American Heart Society.
