

At a young age, Linda accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her faith remained the foundation of her life, and it was through the church that she discovered and nurtured her extraordinary musical gifts. A gifted classical and gospel pianist, she shared her love of music throughout her life, blessing many with her talent and devotion.
Linda was raised in Oakland, California, where she graduated from Castlemont High School. She continued her education at Laney College and Merritt College before beginning a distinguished career with the Oakland Unified School District. For more than 35 years, she faithfully served as a school teacher, dedicating her life to educating, mentoring, and inspiring generations of students.
In 1971, Linda married Jerry L. Bowens. From their union, one beloved daughter was born, Keisha LaNay Bowens.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and Wilbert Fields; her brother, Michael Fields (father of Antori Woodby); and her nephew, Terrance Marris, son of Anthony W. Fields and Monique Marris.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving and devoted daughter, Keisha LaNay (Bowens) Bratcher, and her son-in-law, Laurence A. Bratcher Sr.
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Ashlee LaNae (Alwin Slater), Tiana LaNae, Aaliyah LaNae, Delmaine Du’Pree, Carmen LaNae, Kaden Jerry, Blake Anthoni Jerry, and Laurence Marstro Bratcher II.
Linda was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Charlei and Ivan, who brought great joy to her life.
She is further survived by her beloved siblings: Diane Fields, Wanda Fields, Sandra Fields, Anthony Wilbert Fields, Kent Fields, and Beverly Fields, along with a host of cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Linda’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith, music, education, love, and service. Her gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and commitment to uplifting others will remain forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
