On August 15, 2015, God's angels came to take Louis Edward Scheppegrell to his home in heaven with his Lord, Jesus Christ. Louis was born and raised in Uptown New Orleans where he attended Holy Name of Jesus and Jesuit High School. Later, Louis would graduate from LSU in 1952 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, going on to work for New Orleans Public Service for 45 years. Louis proudly served his country during the Korean conflict as a First Lieutenant in the US Army. Louis was the quintessential family man dedicating all of his life to his wife Mary, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Louis spent most of his time making sure others were happy, taking a few moments to watch his alumni LSU Tigers and his beloved New Orleans Saints. Louis leaves us to join his dear parents Clara and William C. Scheppegrell Sr., and siblings Joy Lopez and Dr. William C. Scheppegrell Jr. Louis lovingly known as “Honey”, is survived by his beloved wife Mary Ficarra Scheppegrell, and four children Sandra Scheppegrell Cavallino Johnson and husband David, Rickie Scheppegrell and wife Yvette, Ronnie Scheppegrell, and Louis Scheppegrell II. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Louis Scheppegrell III, Mary Francis Cavallino Frick and husband Greg, Chris Scheppegrell, Ashley Cavallino Somers and husband Rob, Lauren Cavallino Fiorenza and husband Brad, Natalie Scheppegrell Johnson and husband Daniel, and Keith Hudson, along with five great-grandchildren, Dominick Johnson, Bennett Frick, Kristin Somers, Donovan Johnson, and Miles Frick. Louis is also survived by his close godchildren David Scheppegrell and Jorge Lopez. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Louis’s life at the family home in Metairie on Friday August 21 (Louis’s birthday) from 1:00pm-3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Louis to Jefferson Parish SPCA. An online guestbook is available at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
