Loyal John Hirsius Jr.

He is survived by Rosalind Dammerau Hirsius, his wife of 62 years: his three children Kimberly Hirsius Navarre (Rene), Danielle Hirsius Townsend and John Hirsius: three grandchildren: Arden Eugenie Townsend, William Barclay Townsend, and the late Andre Rene Navarre. He also enjoyed his role as an honorary great grandfather to Sawyer Jones and Thomas Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyal John Hirsius and Eunice Schneider Hirsius and his brother, Edward Hirsius.

He retired after a 33-year career at Halliburton where he worked as a Product Specialist. During that period, he worked with major oil companies in the Gulf of Mexico. Early in his career he worked at Boeing on the Saturn V rocket for the Apollo program during the 1960s and 1970s.

His interests included building model airplanes as well as model trains. He was a student of World War II.

He was a parishioner of St Clement of Rome parish, since the parish was founded in 1965, where he was a committed adorer in the Adoration Chapel for 30 years. At his passing he was a parishioner of St Catherine of Sienna.

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church 105 Bonnabel Blvd, Metairie, LA, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13th. Visitation will precede from 10:00 am-11:00 am.
