

Mac Gregor Bulloch, Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 21, 2012 at the age of 85. He was born in New York, New York on July 4, 1926 and spent his early childhood in Long Beach, California before moving to New Orleans in 1943. He attended Isidore Newman High School and graduated in 1944. He then attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy where he was a member of class D-225 and graduated in 1947. Upon graduation, he sailed for two years with Delta Lines as Third Mate before enrolling at Tulane University. While at Tulane, he was a member and served as President of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity and received his BBA in 1951. In 1953, he was called to active military duty and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1955 as a Lieutenant after tours in Inchon, Korea and Yokosuka, Japan. He was employed by Lykes Brothers Steamship Company for 42 years, retiring in 1993 as Senior Vice President – Operations. Mac was also Chairman of the New Orleans Steamship Association from 1985 to 1989. In 1982, he received the Outstanding Professional Achievement award from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He has been a member of the National Cargo Bureau for over 40 years and served as its Director in the late 1970’s. He was a member of the Bacchus Organization for 30 years, the Lykes Quarter Century Club, and the Plimsoll Club. He was an active member of St. Augustine’s Church in Metairie.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mac Gregor Bulloch and Mary MacMillan Bulloch and his first wife, Joan Jackson Bulloch. He is survived by his wife Jean Jackson Bulloch, four children, Jane Bulloch Duncan (Steve), Mac Gregor Bulloch, III (Lynne), David Donald Bulloch (Janette), and Martha Bulloch Greschner (Frederick), three step-children, Donald Bertrand Jackson, Jr. (Diane), Nancy Jackson LeBlanc (Paul), and George Covington Jackson (Rebecca), eleven grandchildren, Adrienne Leigh Duncan, Richard Shannon Duncan, Forrest Stephen Duncan, Kellye Joan Bulloch, Claire Louise Bulloch, Emily Suzanne Bulloch, Mac Gregor Bulloch IV, Daniel David Bulloch, Margaret Mary Greschner, Frederick Thomas Greschner, III, Jackson Eagan Greschner, and six step-grandchildren: Donald Bertrand Jackson, III, Christopher George Jackson, Zachary Louis LeBlanc (Sarah), Amanda LeBlanc Janaskie (Justin), Jason Michael Bronson, and Jean Covington Jackson.
He made a lasting impression on those who met him and his laughter, smile, and sense of humor will be missed by all. Visitation will begin Saturday, March 24, 2012 at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, 3412 Haring Road, Metairie, LA at 10:00 am, followed by the Order of the Burial of the Dead at 12:00 Noon.
