

Manuel (Manolo) S. Alvarado, a cook at Perks Coffee, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday October 7, 2021 at 10:21 pm at the age of 40. Manolo is survived by his mother, Nimia Alvarado; his brother Valian Duong; his children Emily Brown and Kennedy Martin; mother of his children Helen Brown and her daughter whom Manolo treated as his own, Ally Frederick; long time friend Jonathan McSwain as well as many other friends and family.
Manolo was born on January 30, 1981 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Grace King High School. He first became a father when he was a child himself having Emily at the age of 16. Kennedy came much later in life when he was 34. Most of Manolo’s life, he worked in the hospitality business such as Lager’s, Velvet Cactus and Perks. He was very successful at cooking. It was not only just a profession for him, but he also enjoyed and loved it. He was also known for his love to eat especially desserts. Manolo was known for his contagious smile. He would light up any room. He is known for his jokingly personality. He always was finding a way for someone to laugh. He was very sociable, so he had many friends. He also enjoyed travelling and camping.
We request all of Manolo’s loved ones to join us in celebrating his life at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home at 4747 Veterans Blvd Metairie, LA 70006 on Tuesday October 19, 2021. Visitation is scheduled from 9am to 1pm followed by a service given by Father Chris from St. Mary Magdalen. Flower donations can be sent to Leitz-Eagan.
