Margaret Maxine Ray, born April 16, 1928, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 7, 2011, at Covenant Nursing Home. She was 83 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Patten Ray. She is survived by her daughter Shirley G. Mayeux, three grandchildren: Wayne Mayeux, Michele Breaux, Levy Mayeux and four great grandchildren. She was one of the first female pilots in Louisiana, and learned to fly before she learned to drive. She was an artist and a quilt maker. Margaret loved children, she loved life, and lived life to its fullest. She retired from N.O. City Hall after 30 years of employment. She was a worthy matron of Loyalty Chapter 119 Order of the Eastern Star. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Wednesday August 10, 2011 at 11:00 am.
