Margie Guice, a longtime resident of the New Orleans area, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Columbus, Texas, at the age of 96. She lived a long and wonderful life filled with laughter, love, and countless memories shared with family and friends.
Margie was born on May 18, 1929, to Samuel Dewey Hendricks and Lady Maye Hendricks. From an early age she had a natural gift for caring for others, something that would become a defining part of who she was throughout her life.
That gift led her to pursue a career in nursing. Margie attended the Mather School of Nursing where she earned her degree and began a profession that she truly loved. Nursing was never just a job to Margie, it was a calling. She took pride in helping others, offering comfort, and being there for people when they needed care the most.
Margie shared her life with her husband, Henry Guice, who preceded her in death. Together they built a life centered around family, hospitality, and love. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Tommy Guice and Timmy Guice.
Those who knew Margie will remember her as someone who loved bringing people together. She had a special talent for entertaining and made every gathering feel warm and welcoming. Whether she was cooking a meal, tending to her flowers, painting, or simply visiting with loved ones, Margie found joy in the simple moments of life. She especially treasured the time she spent with her many nieces and nephews, who brought her endless happiness over the years.
Margie’s life was defined by kindness, generosity, and a genuine love for people. Her caring nature, joyful spirit, and the memories she created with those around her will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, family, and a life well lived.
