

Mario Dipietrantonio passed away peacefully surrounded by friends, family, and his corgis Della and Butch on October 20, 2017 of Cholangiocarcinoma. He was 63. He is survived by his husband of 22 years, William Scott Andrews, sister Diana D. Mowl, mother-in-law Elizabeth Andrews, father-in-law James Connie Andrews, brothers-in-law James Mark Andrews (Jean), Brian Delford Andrews, and Christopher Evans Andrews (Pam). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Ashley Nath (Michael), Beau Andrews (Sarah), Lee Andrews, Clayton Andrews, Constance Andrews, Belle Andrews, and Abigail Andrews as well as many aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mario Dipietrantonio Sr. and Dorothy Kime Dipietrantonio, and his former partner Dale Collier. Mario was a Jefferson parish employee for over 30 years as a reference librarian and the East Bank Regional Library Manager from 1997 to 2010. Mario was the 2008 recipient of the Jefferson Parish Library employee of the year and in 2009 outstanding Jefferson Parish employee of the year. He received his Bachelors of Psychology from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA and later went on to receive his Masters of Library Science from LSU. After retirement he worked part-time at Robert Fresh Market and Martin Wine Cellar. He was a founding member of Krewe of Clones and later a founding member of Krewe du Vieux and for 7 years the co-captain of the Krewe of the Mystic Inane. He was also a board member of the Northwest Carrollton Association and Treasurer of the Carrollton Area Network. Mario was a true gentleman, a compassionate, selfless, citizen of the world who was able to make friends with all he met. He was a charming and witty raconteur, always ready with a funny story or quip that put friends, family, and co-workers in a positive frame of mind. He will be dearly missed by all of the people whose lives he touched. A memorial service for friends and family will be held at a later date.
