

Maurice Lester Robichaux, Jr., passed away peacefully on January 3, 2017. Maurice was born on January 29, 1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans and Metairie, Louisiana. He was a standout athlete at Fortier High School and served honorably as a marine, stationed in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. After his service to his country he returned to New Orleans and began a 45 year career as a barber.
Maurice is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Charlotte Ann Weber Robichaux, son Karl Maurice Robichaux and wife Deborah; daughter Kelley Ann Robichaux, and grandsons Colin O’Neal Day and Stefan Bryant Day.
Maurice is preceded in death by his father Maurice Lester Robichaux, Sr and mother Cornelia Foret Robichaux as well as by sister Geraldine Robichaux Butts and brothers Ronald Joseph Robichaux and Herbert Robichaux. He is survived by sisters Carol Robichaux Otillio and Lena Robichaux Montalbano, nieces Diann Dietrich and Kathleen Tompkins and nephew David Butts as well as numerous other great nieces and nephews.
Maurice was a caring, hardworking and humble man who was generous to all those with whom he crossed paths. He spoke fondly of his days as the Ferris wheel operator at Ponchartrain Beach, the day he met his wife of 62 years and his years as a marine. His loyal customer following during his years as a barber serve as a testimony to his incredible nature. He was an avid sports fan and student of military history. In retirement he enjoyed traveling with his family and early morning work outs with friends at East Jefferson Wellness Center. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and his memory will be cherished.
Honoring Maurice as pall bearers will be his son Karl, grandsons Colin and Stefan, great nephew Joseph Segari, Jr, lifelong friend and cousin Clarence J. Foret, Jr. and family friend and neighbor Craig Rahm.
Visitation will be held on Saturday January 7, 2017 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Leitz Eagan Funeral Home 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie, Louisiana 70006. A celebration of his life will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow immediately thereafter at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70001.
