Melba E. Fernandez

On July 6, 2022 at the age of 83 Melba Fernandez passed from this life. She was preceded in death by her son Camerino Randy Fernandez, her husband Camerino Ronnie Fernandez, her mother Gloria Hemelt Booth, and her father Jourdan E Hemelt. She will be greatly missed by all of her family here and her extended family in Mexico. She is survived by her son Ricardo Allen Fernandez (Carrie), her daughter-in-law Marianne Palmisano Fernandez, her grandchildren Eric Jourdan Fernandez (Jill), Allen Michael Fernandez, Gina Marie Fernandez (Jonathan), Camerino Ryan Fernandez, and Christian Riley Fernandez. She was also known as GG (great grandma) to all of her great grandchildren (Evelyn Rose, Michael Jude, Dominick James, Ella Grace, Emmy Faith, Ellis Raphael, Amelia Elise, and Quinn Elise) who she loved (and spoiled) dearly. Melba was a proud graduate of Holy Angels Academy in 1957 and later retired after a long tenure from Canal Barge Company. Melba was raised in New Orleans and resided in Metairie for most of her life. She never drove a car and spent her life taking public transit to get around. Hopefully, she caught the express bus to the pearly gates. Funeral services will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home at 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie, LA on Wednesday 7/13/22. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
