Melvin R Chaix Jr.

Melvin “Mel” R. Chaix, Jr. entered into eternal life on Tuesday November 19, 2013 at the age of 68 years young. Son of the late Melvin R. Chaix, Sr. He is survived by his loving mother Gloria B. Chaix; sister Judy Bouffine; nieces Christi Bouffine Gussoni and her wife Kellie Gussoni, Misti Bouffine and his great niece Shana Clark; and Mel’s one and only great nephew Cody Bouffine (CoCo). Mel was not only an uncle to his girls and Cody but he was like their father. Nothing was ever too much for him to do. He was always there from day one and we will be forever grateful to him. Mel was also an ordained minister at his church Central St. Matthew United Church of Christ and he was very active in his church until he started getting sick. He used to visit many nursing homes, boys homes, recovery homes, etc. to offer prayer and hope to everyone there. He was a very caring, giving and selfless man and he will be missed dearly. Mel was a blessing to us and to so many others. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Central St. Matthew UCC at 1333 South Carrollton Ave., New Orleans at 11:00am with visitation beginning at 10:00am.
