OBITUARY

Melvin Joseph Landry

March 8, 1961December 2, 2018

Mr. Melvin Joseph Landry died peacefully in his sister’s home on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the age of 57. Melvin is survived by his sister Brenda Kane, his brothers Roy Landry and Michael Landry, his nieces and nephew, and his sweet dog Zack. He is preceded in death by his loving husband John Hoelker and his parents Roy and Joyce Landry. Melvin was born on March 8, 1961 in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from Bonnabel High School. He met his husband John in New Orleans and they went on to live a great and happy life together for over 25 years. They moved from New Orleans to St. Louis, Atlanta, and finally to Florida where they took a permanent residence in St. Petersburg. They made some very dear and close friends during their time together whom they loved like family. Melvin worked as a customer service rep for Macy’s, surrounded by many friends and colleagues. He loved to dress up as Santa each year and even grew out his bread to accurately play the part. One other thing he enjoyed to do with his spare time was go to Disneyworld with his yearly fast pass, ensuring he didn’t miss any new rides or attractions. Melvin was also a talented artist and crafter and spent a lot of his time crafting beautiful flower pieces, painting scenic landscapes and baking. He especially loved to bake cookies at Christmas time. He enjoyed dining out with his friends and never missed an opportunity for southern hometown dishes when he visited his family in New Orleans. He has touched so many people’s lives and will be truly missed by everyone that knew and loved him. Condolences may be left for the family at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com

Mel, I don't know that I could ever completely describe how I feel about you! You have left an everlasting mark on your Macy's family! We were so fortunate to work with you and to be apart of all the beautiful things you shared with us. I am so grateful to call you friend! I miss your funny little laugh and smirk. I miss having you shake your head at me for my non-filter speaking ways! Thanks for all the joy you brought to us here! We love and miss you so much!

Mel,
I will always remember your smile and witty sense of humor. Your concern for other's and reaching out to help those in need seemed to fill a precious spot in your heart. This is not a good-bye, this is until we meet again. Until then you will be truly missed.

My Dearest Bud,

Thank you for being a part of my life for the past 10 years and calling me your "WORK WIFE" Every day I wake up and walk into Macys and think to myself all this is a dream and that I will see that IM from you saying good morning and what time we're taking your breaks for today. I'd will give anything to see that again. I know you're in a better place now. Rest In Peace my precious Bud until we meet again.

The world lost one of the nicest men I have ever met, worked with, and a true Santa at our Macy's corporate office.
Mel was a peaceful, kind, sweet person.
I wish you healing and peace on your passing into the spirit world. I hope my brother Kent and your beloved husband who each left us too soon, both welcomed you at the other side.
You will be truly and deeply missed.
The world was a better place with you in it.
My heart is broken.
All my love.
May your spirit visit often.
